Five hundred million euros. We talk about that. This is AGAIN going to a country that is not a member of the European Union.
The European Commission is lending the money to Ukraine. The Eastern European country receives this money to get the economic and structural reforms back on track in the country. In addition to that, the European Union will also release another 1,2 BILLION euros for “favorable” loans against the corona virus.
Since 2014, Ukraine has received almost EUR 3,8 billion from the EU. This money is mainly intended to put the economy of Ukraine on the map. Payouts are linked to all kinds of conditions. One of those conditions is to tackle the fight against corruption and money laundering.
European Commissioner for Economy Paolo Gentiloni: “This 500 million euros shows that we support Ukraine even more in these times. We will provide more emergency aid, this crisis knows no borders. Solidarity in Europe also does not stop at the borders of the EU. ”
