Macron gets slapped in the face by civilian
French President Emmanuel Macron was beaten by a man while visiting a secondary school in the Drôme department in southwestern France. That can be seen in images circulating on social media and the president's entourage has confirmed it.
Footage shows the man in a crowd behind fences as Macron approaches. The two briefly exchange a few words, after which the man grabs the president's forearm and appears to punch him in the face.
Security officials immediately pull Macron away and push the man to the ground. The latter was arrested just like anyone else. According to the president's entourage, it was a "attempt to hit".
