Ethiopian Airlines, Africa's largest and most profitable airline, continues to operate flights to China.
Despite the pressure to stop due to the fast-growing Coronavirus pandemic.
Other airlines, including Kenya Airlines and RwandAir, have temporarily stopped Chinese flights until the outbreak is under control.
Chief Executive Tewolde Gebre Mariam refuses to stop the highly profitable flights to China and adds: "It would be morally unacceptable to stop flights to China because of a temporary problem" and "we stand in solidarity with our Chinese brothers and sisters."
Tewoñde's statement is a response to the President of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta, who is putting pressure on Ethiopia to stop aviation to China. This is to prevent Coronavirus from spreading in East Africa.
Uhuru points out that health care in East Africa is not designed for a rapidly spreading virus like Corona.
