Guest blog: Urk corona free and therefore the frontrunner again, 04-09-2021

Ton Theunis: I have a question for someone who understands. Someone who can explain it, please.

What's going on?
Well… A card has been released from the European corona watchdog. The Netherlands was then declared 'code red' again.
So that gets my attention. Red? How so?
Well, it won't be that crazy, because on August 19, Omroep Flevoland also reported that the Flevoziekenhuis had reopened the corona department, because the number of infections would rise again in our province.
Well, then you understand that 'code red' of course. So no risks should be taken!

There will be another warning under my epistle (on Facebook): 'For facts about corona click here' after which you will be redirected to the Covid19 information center. And there is the link to… …indeed, the Corona dashboard.
And that's where my numbers come from?
Because if we include the figures from Hugo's corona dashboard and consult those of Jaap van Dissel, what do we read there?

Almere (20/08-27/08):
Hospital admissions average: 1,4
Hospital admissions in one day, 01/09: 0
Positive tested people (as of 02/09): 55
Mortality: 0
(Source: Central government corona dashboard)

Lelystad (20/08-27/08)
Hospital admissions average: 0,4
Hospital admissions in one day, 01/09: 1
Positive tested people (as of 02/09): 18
Mortality: 0
(Source: Central government corona dashboard)

Dronten (20/08-27/08)
Hospital admissions average: 0,3
Hospital admissions in one day, 01/09: 0
Positive tested people (as of 02/09): 6
Mortality: 0
(Source: Central government corona dashboard)

Zeewolde (20/08-27/08)
Hospital admissions average: 0,1
Hospital admissions in one day, 01/09: 0
Positive tested people (as of 02/09): 3
Mortality: 0
(Source: Central government corona dashboard)
NOP (20/08-27/08)

Hospital admissions average: 0
Hospital admissions in one day, 01/09: 0
Positive tested people (as of 02/09): 5
Mortality: 0
(Source: Central government corona dashboard)

Urk (20/08-27/08)
Hospital admissions average: 0
Hospital admissions in one day, 01/09: 0
Positive tested people (as of 02/09): 0
Mortality: 0

The Flevoland safety region says the following (measurement from 23/08 to 29/08):
A. 143 positive tests per 100.000 inhabitants per week.
Flevoland has 416.546 inhabitants. This means that approximately 580 infections must have been detected in that week, a 0,0013th part of the Flevoland population.
B. Hospital admissions including IC: 35 per 1.000.000 inhabitants per week.
That would be a 0,000035th part, but Flevoland only has 416.546 inhabitants. So: 35:10 = 3,5 x 4,16546 = 14,5 hospital admissions in Flevoland in a week.
C. Risk Level: VERY SERIOUS

So: according to the calculation schemes of the national government, there should be 35 hospital admissions per 1.000.000 inhabitants per week and therefore 14,5 people from Flevoland should be in hospital.
But we add up the data supplied by the Dashboard of the number of admissions and we arrive at: 2,2.

Why Flevoland 'dark red'?
Why 'VERY SERIOUS'?
That's not right, is it? Now you might think: it is worse elsewhere than in Flevoland, so here's this for comparison:

Amsterdam (20/08-27/08)
Hospital admissions average: 7,7
Hospital admissions in one day, 01/09: 4
Positive tested people (as of 02/09): 179
Mortality: 0
Risk Level: VERY SERIOUS
(Source: Central government corona dashboard)
And it's at least 'WORRY' everywhere. For example in Limburg.

Maastricht (20/08-27/08)
Hospital admissions average: 0,3
Hospital admissions in one day, 01/09: 0
Positive tested people (as of 02/09): 10
Mortality: 0
Risk Level: WORRY
(Source: Central government corona dashboard)

In view of the above, the following statement seems correct to me:
– Given these figures, there is no reason to label the Netherlands as a country with a very serious risk level in the field of COVID-19.
– There is, given these figures, no reason to test people for access to public or other buildings and gatherings and therefore no reason to force people, directly or indirectly, to undergo such a test.
– Given these figures, there is no reason - apart from the fact that this is constitutionally not allowed - to force or pressure people, directly or indirectly, to vaccinate. Not by governments, not by employers, not by others.
– Given these figures, there is no reason to conclude to a 'very serious risk level' and therefore no urgent need to continue the remaining corona measures and restrictions.
– There is also no reason to keep emergency ordinances and the Emergency Act created in effect any longer.

So back to my question: 'Can someone explain to me what the government's conclusion is based on that the Netherlands has been given 'code red' again? And why people in the event sector are still not allowed to work? Why artists are not allowed to perform, but in Zandvoort?
Why yesterday 30.000 people were able to squeeze through the streets of Zandvoort to that circuit, but Lowlands was not allowed?
Why should a friend have to tell her boss whether or not she has been vaccinated, when that boss has been vaccinated herself and is not at risk anyway?
Why Hugo is still sitting where he is?
Because that's the man who promised the government wouldn't enforce vaccination. Not directly and not indirectly.
So he lied. That doesn't seem to be a problem at all...
