How was care organized before Rutte became Prime Minister and how is it now?

How did hospitals travel and sail before the Rutte era and how with Rutte until 2017? The latest figures that are known date from 2017.

The number of nursing days (10,8 million-8,5 million) and the number of hospital beds (44.800-37.700) decreased by 20%. The intensive care units were almost completely demolished by Rutte.

At first there were 1.900 intensive care beds, but Rutte had 700 beds removed.

The population in the Netherlands has only grown due to the arrival of immigrants and the Dutch are getting older, so that is reason to assume that the number of intensive care beds and other nursing matters should have increased.

Beds per 1.000 inhabitants

In Germany, the number of beds per 1000 inhabitants is 8,1.
In France 6,1
In Belgium 5,1
In Britain 3,6
In the NETHERLANDS 2,3

Two years ago, during the 2017/2018 season, the Netherlands had an OVERHEAT of 9.000 flu deaths. A total of 11.000 deaths. (source of Health and Care)

In 2018, this flu epidemic resulted in crowded hospitals and a shortage of beds. There were daily recording stops. Especially in Brabant. (source and video)

“In the Netherlands there are still about 142 cases of flu per 100.000 inhabitants. That is well above the epidemic limit of 51 sick per 100.000 people. The result is that hospitals in Brabant are currently packed.

“As a result, patients sometimes have to go to hospitals further away”says Gielen. (source)

The Netherlands also suffered from a flu epidemic in 2016. The Dutch Intensive Care Association then:

“Strikingly enough, patients who come in are vital, healthy people. They react very strongly to the flu, requiring some to be connected to a heart-lung machine. This treatment takes a relatively long time, so that the ICs fill up quickly.

A number of operations were therefore postponed this week at Erasmus MC in Rotterdam, because the capacity on the ic was limited. ” (source)
