President of Kosovo suspected of war crimes

Kosovar President Hashim Thaçi was indicted yesterday by the Kosovo Tribunal located in The Hague.

The Kosovo Tribunal, also known as the Kosovo Court, is a tribunal set up to prosecute and try crimes against humanity, war crimes and Kosovar crimes committed during the Kosovo war.

Thaçi, 52, has been charged by a “special prosecutor” with war crimes during the war with Serbia. In the late XNUMXs, Thaçi was the leader of the Kosovar liberation army UÇK. The UÇK has been considered a terrorist organization by the former Yugoslav authorities and some other countries.

The Kosovo Tribunal special prosecutor indicates that he can prove all charges without reasonable doubt. The Kosovar president is said to have committed nearly a hundred murders.

In 2014, research was also conducted into the organization by the European Union. This showed that UÇK members were guilty of kidnapping, torture, murder and other war crimes.
