California Governor Gavin Newsom announced on Wednesday that he will distribute millions of cash to illegal immigrants to compensate for the financial setback caused by the corona crisis, known as helicopter money.
A rough estimate of the total amount that goes to illegal immigrants in California comes to about 125 million dollars, of which 70 million dollars has been knocked out of the pocket of the American taxpayer: the legal residents of the US.
Grantmakers Concerned With Immigrants and Refugees (GCIR) have said to match the rest and have already received millions from:
The California Endowment, the James Irwine Foundation, the Open Society Foundation of George Soros, Silicon Valley Community Foundation and the Evelyn and Walter Haas jr. Fund.
The Chan Zuckerberg Initiative has also signed up to donate money and to fill the piggy bank of illegal immigrants.
Facebook founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Pricilla Zuckerberg founded the philanthropic organization the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative in December 2015.
The official statement about the Chan Zuckerberg initiative on their website reads as follows:
“We believe in an America where everyone is allowed to develop as much as possible and use their full potential.
That's why we support immigration reforms that will allow families and communities to stay TOGETHER, grow the economy and pave the way to citizenship for all 11 million undocumented illegal immigrants in the USA who call our country home.
Marc Zuckerberg has not offered money to legal white Americans, such as a lonely elderly person 'senior citizens' of homeless people, those who are completely devoid of any human contact due to the lockdown.
