We are talking about two relatively small countries. The counter of corona infections is zero on both the Faroe Islands and Montenegro.
Montenegro has officially declared itself “corona free”. The country took measures before the corona virus even arrived in Europe. Thus, the population was tested en masse, public life was shut down and the country came into total isolation.
Montenegro's Prime Minister Duško Marković explains that rapid action has prevented massive spread. Healthcare also receives a huge salary increase. In addition to the 12% salary increase earlier this year, people in health care receive an additional 15% from the months of March and April. Research has shown that 95% of the Montenegrin population supported the government's course of action. The Balkan country plans to reopen its borders to about 100 countries.
The Faroe Islands declared themselves corona-free on May 9. Neither has there been any contamination since then. Only 52.000 people live on the Faroe Islands. They too want to start slowly opening the borders again. The Faroe Islands are an island group located in the North Atlantic Ocean in the Scotland-Norway-Iceland triangle. The archipelago is an autonomous part of the Kingdom of Denmark and is not part of the EU.
